SWIFT9 GRAFFITI
Swift9 is a Nairobi-based visual artist, muralist, and pioneer of urban aerosol art in East Africa.
Working across unconventional surfaces, such as burlap sacks, makuti mats, papyrus, and salvaged materials, Swift9 creates pieces that absorb both paint and history.
“I paint, teach, and read to sharpen my skills,” Swift9 says. “Each mural is an extension of where I’ve been and a glimpse of where I’m going.”
He resists stylistic limitations, drawing inspiration from everyday life, political upheaval, spiritual symbolism, and the shared language of resistance across the global South.
as part of the landscapes exhibition, swift9 presents his latest work, ‘the people shall’ looking at the genz protests in kenya and examining the psyche of the genz protestors in moment that critical time.
the aerosol paintings on stretched aerosol cans again showcase swift9’s experimentation of alternative materials.
